Hands-On Training in Endoscopic Technology Inspires Veterinary Students at IPB University
On May 8th, 2024, an in-depth workshop on endoscopic technology was conducted at Rumah Sakit Hewan Pendidikan, IPB University, drawing approximately 40 veterinary students eager to expand their knowledge of modern veterinary tools and practices.
The workshop began with an introductory speech by Prof. Dr. Drh. Gunanti NS, who warmly welcomed the students and introduced the team leading the session. The team then provided a comprehensive overview of endoscopy, covering its components, various applications in veterinary medicine, and the significant benefits it offers in improving diagnostic and treatment procedures.
A highlight of the workshop was the hands-on demonstration in the surgical room, where students were given the chance to interact directly with flexible endoscopes. Under the expert guidance of Drh. Riki Siswandi, M.Si., Ph.D., the students observed endoscopic procedures on a dog, gaining practical insights into examining the nasal passages, ear canal, and trachea. This hands-on experience underscored the precision and effectiveness of endoscopy in veterinary care.
The enthusiasm among the students was palpable, as they were keen to learn about the cutting-edge technology that could soon become a staple in their future veterinary practice. The workshop highlighted the educational advantages of these tools: clear, enlarged images displayed on the screen allowed instructors to easily explain intricate details of internal structures, fostering a deeper and quicker understanding among students.
This collaboration with IPB University not only enhanced the students' understanding of veterinary endoscopy but also demonstrated a commitment to advancing veterinary education through innovative technology. The workshop played a vital role in preparing future veterinarians, equipping them with the knowledge and skills necessary to improve animal healthcare.
